Asthma affects about one in 10 children in
a child's ability to be as active as other

North Carolina and can significantly limit
children. To help children with asthma learn
to proactively manage their condition so
they can live a more active life, Lisa Alarcon,
and her colleagues at the UNC Children's
Allergy & Asthma Center sponsored an
education session at a local school that was
open to the public. The topic of discussion
was common asthma triggers and proper
disease management. Attendee feedback
was so positive that other schools heard
about it and have begun to request the
