Jhoanna Ventura A Helping Hand Through Hard Times FEATURE Waiting on a loved one during a surgical procedure can be a stressful time. UNC Hospitals Hillsborough Campus has integrated the role of patient liaisons to help mitigate anxiety during this time. Jhoanna Venture is an LPN on the surgical team who thrives on serving in this important role. She greets and orients every patient upon arrival for surgery, serves as a vital communication link between the OR staff and the family during the procedure and reunites the patient and loved ones in the recovery area when the surgery is finished.
