Emergency Department Transition Unit (EDTU) Christa Seaman, DNP, RN, NE-BC Associate Director Emergency Services UNC Hospital's strong commitment to patients arriving to the Emergency Department with behavioral health care needs initially inspired the development of more dedicated space for these patients - Emergency Department Transition Unit (EDTU). Additionally, the need for a more private, modernized space to provide care for survivors of sexual violence was identified. From conception to opening, development of the EDTU was a two-year journey. Key stakeholders such as patients, caregivers, providers, and Nursing were involved in the planning and architecture of the unit. 20 | 2020 Nursing Annual Report
