A Letter From Paula Fessler Magnet® Stories Nursing Staff Recognition Awards Professional Accomplishments MAGNET® STORIES You've Been Matched: Development and Implementation of an Inpatient Clinical Labor Pool Team The Division of Nursing in collaboration with other multidisciplinary team members created and implemented a tiered staffing plan to allocate staffing resources to areas of need based on census, patient acuity and our own internal staffing challenges related to COVID-Related Absences (CRAs). This plan provided us a foundation so that, when the surge happened in September 2021, were able to quickly build on what was already established. We did take some lessons learned related to mass deployment and we improved on our original strategy by identifying and targeting team members to specific areas for a block of time based on their previous experience. In September of 2021, COVID-19's Delta variant and associated surge proved to be the biggest test thus far for the organization and exacerbated existing resource constraints.
