established unit champions, and
obtained unit baseline feedback. As
a result, the group confirmed that
intermediate and acute care had
similar needs, therefore, proceeded
with Webex info sessions for all shifts.
To ensure sustainability, unit-based
champions served as catalysts who
educated staff in real time, during
safety huddles/charge report; created
MDI boards/newsletters; presented
standardized PowerPoints, discussed
flyers in staff meetings, and collected
nursing perspective data points
pre- and post-spread interventions.
CRNs also performed unit rounds to
reinforce education. In preparation for
onboarding and re-education, a video
was created for new-hire orientation.
Through this value stream, we now
continue quality improvement efforts to
combat mortality and morbidity, while
upholding our commitment to safety for
our North Carolina communities.
Outcomes post-spread were as follows:
